Neil Smith, J. Neil Schulman, C.J. and &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lfs.org\/blog\/how-and-why-to-fight-for-freedom-an-appreciation-of-heinleins-free-men-the-2023-prometheus-hall-of-fame-winner-for-best-classic-fiction\/\">Free Men<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was told that he rejected my theory that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lfs.org\/blog\/lunar-revolution-rational-anarchism-anarcho-capitalism-a-self-aware-computer-ecological-crisis-and-tanstaafl-an-appreciation-of-robert-heinleins-the-moon-is-a-harsh-mistress-a-1983-prom\/\"><i>The Moon is a Harsh Mistress <\/i><\/a>(one of the first two works inducted in 1983 into the Prometheus Hall of Fame) is actually a mystery novel,\u201d Friedman said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026 The mystery is who kills the computer. You\u2019re supposed to be able to figure it out from internal evidence. But Neil Schulman told me that he checked with Heinlein and that wasn\u2019t true.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut it was a lovely theory, one I could expand on another occasion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>NAOMI NOVIK: An \u201caddictive\u201d series<br \/>\n<\/b><br \/>\nFriedman volunteered that he has \u201csomewhat mixed\u201d views of Naomi Novik, one of his current favorite fantasy novelists.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps Novik is best known for her bestselling Temeraire series, about a rare bond formed between a young man and a dragon, who together must battle in the Napoleonic wars.<\/p>\n<p>The novels in Novik\u2019s 9-book series include <i>His Majesty\u2019s Dragon <\/i>(Book One), <i>Throne of Jade<\/i> (Book Two), <i>Black Powder War <\/i>(Book Three), <i>Empire of Ivory <\/i>(Book Four), <i>Victory of Eagles <\/i>(Book Five), <i>Tongues of Serpents<\/i> (Book Six), <i>Crucible of Gold <\/i>(Book Seven), <i>Blood of Tyrants<\/i> (Book Eight) and <i>League of Dragons<\/i> (Book Nine, the final volume in the series.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s an addictive writer, with one of the best series,\u201d Friedman said, smiling, \u201cbut a writer who I have mixed
