Victor might also talk about some of his fellow libertarian sf writers, who he knew well in the 1970s and 1980s, many of whom have sadly passed from the scene in recent years.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lfs.org\/blog\/40th-anniversary-celebration-an-appreciation-of-victor-komans-the-jehovah-contract-the-1988-prometheus-best-novel-winner\/\"><em>The Jehovah Contract, <\/em><\/a>an audacious thriller-noir fantasy about a dying atheistic assassin, masquerading as a private detective in a near-future Los Angeles, who\u2019s given a contract to kill God.<\/p>\n<p>Philosophical speculations accent the suspenseful story as the assassin finds a way to excise the concept of God from the minds of humanity and enable a more laissez-faire \u201cCreatrix\u201d to return to Frontier,<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>which imagines a profit-enhanced competition via private enterprise to reach the stars \u2013 a prophetic plot that anticipated the X Prize that saw Burt Rutan\u2019s SpaceShip One reach space in 2004, helping to open the door for all the subsequent commercial development of rockets and space milestones through free markets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE LIBERTARIAN CIRCLE OF SF WRITERS<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nKoman, greatly influenced by the libertarian agorist writer-editor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lfs.org\/blog\/prometheus-laureate-victor-koman-inaugurates-the-agorist-archives-of-samuel-edward-konkin-iii\/\">Samuel Edward Konkin III<\/a> (publisher of <em>New Libertarian\u00a0<\/em>magazine), was part of a loose group of explicitly libertarian sf novelists who emerged in the 1970s, building on the strong libertarian currents in the bestselling novels and stories of such Grand Master sf writers as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lfs.org\/blog\/lunar-revolution-rational-anarchism-anarcho-capitalism-a-self-aware-computer-ecological-crisis-and-tanstaafl-an-appreciation-of-robert-heinleins-the-moon-is-a-harsh-mistress-a-1983-prom\/\">Robert Heinlein<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lfs.org\/blog\/free-trade-entrepreneurship-and-a-swashbuckling-merchant-hero-poul-andersons-trader-to-the-stars-a-1985-prometheus-hall-of-fame-winner\/\">Poul Neil Schulman, L. Neil Smith, Vernor Vinge and F. Neil Smith.<\/p>\n<p>Smith won his first award for <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lfs.org\/blog\/40th-anniversary-prometheus-celebration-an-appreciation-of-l-neil-smiths-the-probability-broach-the-1982-best-novel-winner\/\">The Probability Broach<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>in 1982, his second for <em>Pallas<\/em>in 1994 and his third for <em>The Forge of the Elders\u00a0<\/em>in 2001.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TWO-TIME BEST NOVEL WINNERS<br
