<\/a>The award, funded by the Heinlein Society<\/a> and named after the Grand Master who has won more Prometheus Awards than anyone else, is bestowed for outstanding published works in science fiction and technical writings that inspire the human exploration of space.<\/p>\n According to a Heinlein Society press release<\/a>, the Heinlein award was given to Doherty in recognition of his work \u201cin bringing the inspiring books of hundreds of authors writing about our future in Space to public awareness.\u201d<\/p>\n One of the leading publishers of sf\/fantasy, TOR Publishing Group has won every major award in the sf field \u2013 including Hugo, Nebula and Prometheus awards.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n TOR\u2019S PROMETHEUS-WINNING STREAK Of the 45 novels that have won this annual category of the Prometheus Awards, first presented in 1979, 17 were published by TOR \u2013 or about 37.8 percent of all Best Novel winners.<\/p>\n Among the most recent TOR-published Best Novel winners: Harry Turtledove\u2019s The Gladiator<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(2008), Jo Walton\u2019s Ha\u2019Penny<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(2008), Cory Doctorow\u2019s Little Brother<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(2009), Dani and Eytan Kollin\u2019s The Unincorporated Man<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(2010), Doctorow\u2019s Pirate Cinema<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(2013) and Doctorow\u2019s\u00a0Homeland<\/a> <\/em>(2014)<\/p>\n Other TOR winners in this century: Vernor Vinge\u2019s A Deepness in the Sky<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(2000), Donald Kingsbury\u2019s Psychohistorical Crisis\u00a0<\/em><\/a>(2002), F.
