Paul Wilson\u2019s satirical story <em>\u201cLipidleggin\u2019\u201d<\/em> \u2013 explore the value of individual freedom and human rights, champion cooperation over coercion, dramatize the perennial tensions between liberty and power and\/or expose the evils of tyranny, slavery and other abuses of unchecked government power?<\/p>\n<p>All these questions will be discussed Saturday afternoon Aug. 21 during the 41<sup>st\u00a0<\/sup>annual Prometheus Awards ceremony in a free post-ceremony Zoom panel discussion, with <em>Reason\u00a0<\/em>magazine as media sponsor.<\/p>\n<p><em>Reason\u00a0<\/em>editor-in-chief Katherine Mangu-Ward and <em>Reason\u00a0<\/em>book editor Jesse Walker will join award-winning author Barry B. Longyear and Libertarian Futurist Society president William H. Stoddard in the post-ceremony panel discussion (for free access, see Zoom link below) on &#8220;SF, Liberty, Alternative Publishing Trends and the Prometheus Awards.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>ABOUT THE PANELISTS<br \/>\n<\/strong>Here are the bios, in alphabetical order, of the four panelists who will speak and exchange views Saturday afternoon EDT Aug. 21 on the LFS-Reason panel discussion immediately following the 2021 Prometheus awards ceremony:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Barry B. Longyear\u00a0<\/strong>is the first writer to win the Nebula Award, Hugo Award, and John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer all in the same year. In addition to his acclaimed <em>Enemy Mine\u00a0<\/em>series, which inspired a 1985 film starring Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett, Jr., his works include numerous short stories, the <em>Circus World\u00a0<\/em>series, the <em>Infinity Hold\u00a0<\/em>series, and novels ranging from <em>Sea of Glass\u00a0<\/em>to <em>The God Box<\/em>, as well as his much praised <em>Science-fiction Writer&#8217;s Workshop-I <\/em>and his\u00a0online writing seminar, <em>The Write Stuff,\u00a0<\/em>now available in trade paperback and Kindle formats.\u00a0His most recent publication is the seven-volume science-fiction series,\u00a0<em>The War Whisperer<\/em>, the fifth book of which, <em>The Hook<\/em>, earned the 2021 Prometheus Award for Best Novel. Longyear&#8217;s\u00a0first Prometheus nomination came in 1984 for his novel <em>The Tomorrow Testament. <\/em>Other Prometheus-recognized works include <em>Infinity Hold\u00a0<\/em>(1990 Best Novel nominee), and <em>Circus World\u00a0<\/em>(1991 and 1999 Hall of Fame nominee.)
