Kenton Pierce, whose debut novel <i>A Kiss for Damocles <\/i>has won the 2026 Prometheus Award for Best Novel.<\/p>\n<p>The science fiction novel, published by Raconteur Press and launching Pierce\u2019s Tales From the Long Night series, illuminates the ethics and efficacy of free trade and self-defense as a proper foundation for civilization.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s award, focusing on novels published in 2025, was considered by many Libertarian Futurist Society members and Prometheus Best Novel judges to have one of the strongest lineups in many href=\"https:\/\/www.lfs.org\/blog\/comedy-coming-of-age-and-forging-freedom-high-above-a-gas-giant-an-appreciation-of-dave-freers-cloud-castles-the-2023-prometheus-best-novel-winner\/\">Cloud-Castles<\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>PROMETHEUS WINNER SARAH HOYT<br \/>\n<\/b><br \/>\nAnother finalist was <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lfs.org\/blog\/review-sarah-hoyts-no-mans-land-develops-rich-tapestry-blending-sf-fantasy-tropes-to-imagine-first-contact-with-vast-cultural-political-and-gender-differences\/\">No <\/i>(CAEZIK SF &amp; Fantasy), by Harry Turtledove, a 2008 Best Novel winner for <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lfs.org\/blog\/an-appreciation-and-comparison-of-harry-turtledoves-the-gladiator-and-jo-waltons-hapenny-co-winners-of-the-2008-prometheus-award-for-best-novel\/\">The Gladiator<\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>An acclaimed master of alternate history, Turtledove has been nominated eight times for a Prometheus award.<\/p>\n<p>His first Best Novel nomination came for <i>Ruled Britannia<\/i> in 2004, with additional Best Novel nominations for <i>Opening Atlantis<\/i> (in 2009), <i>Liberating Atlantis<\/i> and <i>The United States of Atlantis <\/i>(both in 2010) and <i>Joe GALLAGHER<br \/>\n<\/b><br \/>\nRounding out this year\u2019s Best Novel finalists was <i>War by Other Means <\/i>(Kelt Haven Press)<i>,<\/i> Book 7 in Karl K. Gallagher\u2019s frequently nominated Fall of the Censors future-history series.<\/p>\n<p>Gallagher has been nominated seven times for a Prometheus Award, and each time, his nominated works have become Best Novel finalists.<\/p>\n<p>His first Prometheus nomination came in 2018 for his Torchship trilogy <i>(Torchship, Torchship Pilot <\/i>and <i>Torchship Captain), <\/i>grouped together because the three short novels told one complete story from beginning to end.<\/p>\n<p><i>Storm Between the Stars,<\/i> which launched his Fall of the Censor series, became a finalist in 2021. Series sequels <i>Between Home and Ruin <\/i>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lfs.org\/blog\/seize-whats-held-dear-karl-gallaghers-best-novel-finalist-explores-cultural-clash-of-customs-battle-for-freedom-against-novel-interstellar-tyranny\/\">Seize What\u2019s Held Dear<\/a> became finalists in 2022, <i>Captain Trader Helmsman Spy<\/i> in 2023 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lfs.org\/blog\/review-karl-k-gallaghers-swim-among-the-people-dramatizes-heroic-planetary-resistance-to-an-insidious-totalitarian-interstellar-empire\/\">Swim Among the People <\/a>in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s pretty strong competition this year, with each author having built up their own following of fans (including LFS members), for a writer who\u2019s never before been recognized within the Prometheus Awards.<\/p>\n<p><b>OUR NEWEST PROMETHEUS WINNER: \u00a0J. ceremony open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s hourlong ceremony, tentatively scheduled for 2-3 p.m. Eastern time and emceed by LFS President William H.
