Cherryh (File photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Cherryh recently won the 2025 Forrest J Ackerman Award for Lifetime Achievement given by the members of the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society. (See our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lfs.org\/blog\/prometheus-winner-c-j-cherryh-recognized-with-the-forry-lifetime-achievement-award\/\">previous post<\/a> about Cherryh\u2019s latest honor.)<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s interesting to see what writers have been recognized by both the LASFS, the world\u2019s oldest continuously active science fiction and fantasy club, and the Libertarian Futurist Society (LFS), established in 1982 to sustain the Prometheus Awards.<\/p>\n<p>Such broad cross-recognition should be another reminder of just how embedded libertarian and anti-authoritarian ideas and values are within our popular culture &#8211; and have been, for generations, even amid various socio-economic developments and political trends, both positive and negative.<\/p>\n<p>So if Cherryh is the 13th Prometheus winner to be recognized with a Forry award, who else is on that illustrious cross-checked list?<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><b>OTHER FORRY WINNERS<br &#8211; and more than any other writers.<\/p>\n<p>Anderson (1926-2001) has won seven so far, most recently in 2025 for his novel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lfs.org\/blog\/masterful-social-scientific-world-building-in-clash-of-cultures-including-a-libertarian-society-an-appreciation-of-poul-andersons-orion-shall-rise-the-2025-prometheus-hall-of-fame-winner\/\"><em>Orion to receive the LFS&#8217;s Special Prometheus Award for Lifetime Achievement. His wife Karen Anderson &#8211; also on the list of Forry Award recipients &#8211; accepted the ailing Anderson\u2019s Special Award in 2001 at the first LFScon at Marcon in Columbus, Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>Robert Heinlein (1907-1988) is only individual to win more Prometheus Awards. He holds the all-time record with nine awards.<\/p>\n<p>Largely because Heinlein died in 1988, more than a decade before the establishment of the Prometheus Awards in 1979, and most of his novels were published during his lifetime, all of his LFS recognition has come via the Prometheus Hall of Fame.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Heinlein was one of the first two Hall of Fame winners in 1983 for<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lfs.org\/blog\/lunar-revolution-rational-anarchism-anarcho-capitalism-a-self-aware-computer-ecological-crisis-and-tanstaafl-an-appreciation-of-robert-heinleins-the-moon-is-a-harsh-mistress-a-1983-prom\/\"> <i>The Moon is a Harsh Mistress <\/i><\/a>and also was recognized just a few years later for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lfs.org\/blog\/authority-responsibility-and-a-man-from-mars-robert-heinleins-stranger-in-a-strange-land-a-1987-prometheus-hall-of-fame-winner\/\"><em>Strangers in a Strange Land<\/em><\/a>. Still a favorite among LFS members, Heinlein most recently was recognized in 2022 for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lfs.org\/blog\/slavery-family-and-a-fight-for-liberty-in-a-juvenile-for-all-readers-an-appreciation-of-heinleins-citizen-of-the-galaxy-the-2022-prometheus-hall-of-fame-winner\/\"><i>Citizen of the Galaxy<\/i><\/a> and in 2023 for his story <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lfs.org\/blog\/how-and-why-to-fight-for-freedom-an-appreciation-of-heinleins-free-men-the-2023-prometheus-hall-of-fame-winner-for-best-classic-fiction\/\">\u201cFree
